Dear Friends,

SECOND SUNDAY LUNCH TOMORROW!

Bring side dishes and desserts this Sunday for our monthly luncheon.  Please also remember the Jubilee Center with boxed macaroni and cheese or any other non-perishable food item you would like to give.

 OLY WEEK AT ALL SAINTS

-Palm Sunday: This dramatic liturgy celebrates Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem and remembers his crucifixion and burial.  We begin at 10:30 sharp in the church yard and process with palms into the church.

-Maundy Thursday: Beginning at 7:00 pm, we will celebrate a quiet and intimate service of Holy Communion in this remembrance of Christ’s last supper with his disciples.  Our focus will be on the meaning of Christ’s last supper and its continued celebration in the church to this day.

-Good Friday: Again at 7:00 pm, for a beautiful and solemn observance of Christ’s last moments before giving his life for us.  This will be a shorter service without communion.

-Easter Sunday!  The old hymn says it all: “Hail Thee festival day, blessed day that art hallowed forever.  Day wherein Christ arose breaking the kingdom of death!”  Be part of the celebration and bring others to join you.

THE GOSPEL OF JOHN: WEDNESDAYS AT 6:30 PM IN THE PARISH HALL BEGINNING THIS WEEK!

We begin a new study in the Gospel of John on Wednesday the 12th of April.  John’s telling of the meaning of Jesus’ life is unique among the Gospel writers.  With philosophical and theological insight, he sets forth the significance of Jesus’ life and teachings, his miracles and his resurrection.  John includes longer portions of Jesus’ teaching and recounts his conversations with others in vivid detail.  To begin to understand the Gospel of John is to begin to know Jesus as John himself did.

SCRIPTURE OF THE WEEK: The Lord has Laid on Him the Iniquity of Us All

Surely he has borne our griefs  and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace and with his wounds we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Isaiah 53:4-6
